That Fountain Ain’t Gonna Grant Your Wish by Jimmy Doom (signed)
Jimmy Doom’s new collection of gritty short fiction has landed.
Raw, unrelenting, but often inspiring short fiction from the author of Humans, Being: A Story a Day for a Year and an incomparable three year run of over 1000 short stories on Substack, Jimmy Doom.
From longer explorations of parental relationships in “Grandmaster” and “Eggshells” to concise, taut microfiction tales of new love in “Wrapped” to voyeuristic glimpses into fading roadside attractions in “Life in VHS,” Doom captures voices how they speak in real life, much like beloved fellow Detroiter Elmore Leonard.
“Jimmy Doom is a genius.REPEAT–Genius.”
—E.Jean Carroll
“All writers dream of pulling off what Jimmy Doom does on the regular: distilling grand emotions and chief scenarios down to terse, powerful snapshots. His short stories carry the juice of most novels. Nobody does slice of life like Jimmy. And often those slices cut.”
–Josh Malerman, New York Times Best Selling author of Birdbox and Spin a Black Yarn
