Teacher & Librarian Appreciation Day

Teacher & Librarian Appreciation Day will take place at Book Beat on Sunday, October 16th, from 12 pm-4:00 pm. Local authors with new releases will be here to sell their books and meet with educators. Special guest Linda M. Pavonetti, Ed.D., Professor of English from Oakland University, will give a talk on the Newbery Book Awards (where she was a committee member) at 2:00 pm. Book Beat will display recommended new releases and there will be an educator discount. FOR ONE DAY ONLY, we are extending our traditional 20% educator discount on books “for classroom and library use” to also apply for books that educators buy for their personal use. The public is invited to attend the event, however, only school teachers, media specialists, and librarians will be able to participate in the sale and raffle. Shelley Johannes will be here from 1:00-3:00 pm:

The details: There will be a special sale, a raffle, and some tasty treats for educators. For One Day Only, we are extending our traditional 20% educator discount on books “for classroom and library use”, to also apply on books that educators buy for their personal use. The event is primarily outdoors to keep everyone safe, we will have a tent, but please bring a sweater in case it gets chilly! We suggest masks be worn indoors. Participating teachers, librarians, and media specialists should RSVP and bring their teacher identification in order to receive their educator discount.
